Introduction to Spa Secure
The Spa Association receives phone calls every day from
consumers who want to locate a spa that is dedicated to the highest
level of health and safety standards. They also want to be directed to a
spa that provides first-class customer service and employs the most
qualified personnel. They are demanding a list of spas that meet their
explicit expectations and are requesting a consumer tool to distinguish
exceptional spas from the rest. The Spa Association has created a system
to accomplish just that. It is called Spa Secure!
Spa Secure is an international benchmarking and
licensing program, which gives consumers a tool to immediately recognize
exceptional spas. Spa Secure’s logo will be given to
licensed spas and will be used as a tool to identify industry leaders.
The logo represents a dedication to the industry’s highest business
principles, customer service operations and health and safety standards.
We have created Spa Secure because we want to raise the
level of integrity and credibility to the industry and give consumers
the ability to distinguish the industry’s most exceptional spas.
Although Spa Secure was developed by The Spa
Association, it does not give members a favored status when applying for
licensing. To gain accreditation, each spa must undergo an extensive
examination process. Each spa will be required to pass a written
examination as well as an on-site inspection with stringent standards
being a part of the initial licensing.
It is our mission to raise the level of integrity and credibility in
the spa industry by awarding licensing to spas that meet our high level
of standards. We also strive to provide
communities and consumers with a path to healthier and safer spas.
Spa Secure was officially launched in July of 2004. It
is a commitment-based program created to lift performance thresholds for
the spa industry. It has plans to expand to include worldwide spas
within its first year of operation. Spa Secure will be
updated annually to include improvements made in the industry.
Spa Secure has a board of representatives that advise
the program of steps to take. Board members are industry leaders and
beauty experts who advise Spa Secure quarterly on
improvements to its grading system and qualification requirements.
Spa Secure is based on a two-year renewal and
assessment system because the industry is evolving and revolutionizing
itself rapidly. The two-year expiration date is necessary because we
want each of our license holders to strive and commit to a process of
continual improvement. |
